Hey parents! This is Travis Sybert, the Junior High Pastor at North Coast Church. As we transition into Winter very shortly, we wanted to celebrate what God’s done this Fall and let you know what’s coming up this next season. Regarding the Fall, we had a blast at Tournament Series where we saw many unchurched kids have fun and even come to know Christ. There were 72 students that made decisions to follow Jesus for the first time! How awesome is that?! Our hope is that these students stay plugged into JH78 and experience everything the Winter has to offer. With winter approaching we will continue having TNL and our Weekend Services as well as other exciting events. Please take some time to stay updated with what’s going in in our ministry by reading this letter before the craziness of Christmas hits.

CITY OF ANGELS: GIFTS DUE BY DECEMBER 14
For over a decade, JH78 has supported City of Angels, an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico. The orphanage currently has 40 kids including young children, preteens and those on the cusp of adulthood. We would love your support in making Christmas possible for these kids.
We are asking for students to buy a gift for one of these 40 kids. Our goal is to provide 4 gifts per kid through this service project. Each mid-group at TNL (gender/age specific group) will purchase a specific gift and your last name will determine what age group and gender you are buying for. Please click here if you are a 7th grade boy, here if you are a 7th grade girl, here if you are an 8th grade boy, and here if you are an 8th grade girl to find out what type of gift you are purchasing.
We are asking for all gifts to be turned in unwrapped by or before Friday, December 14.
DECEMBER 18: CHRISTMAS TNL
Join us at TNL as we celebrate the Christmas season! Students that come can expect holiday-themed games and worship!
Christmas TNL will be held from 7-9pm like normal, however, students may show up as early as 6pm for festivities in the Plaza such as free hot chocolate and our traditional “hay rides”.
Christmas TNL will be the final TNL of 2018. We will take two weeks off for Christmas break until we return on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
FEBRUARY 1-3, 2019: CAMP UNITED
Camp United is our winter camp experience at Palomar Mountain Christian Conference Center! We meet up with our other Junior High ministries from our Fallbrook, Ramona, and San Marcos/Escondido campuses for a time of fun, fellowship, teaching, and worship.
The camp offers great food, comfortable lodging and many free time activities. These activities include a zip-line, rifle range, archery station, horseback riding, basketball and volleyball courts, a GaGa Ball court and so much more. But more importantly than all the fun we experience at camp, we provide great teaching and worship to better connect students with their Creator.
The cost is $190. Click here to register.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP MEETINGS AND EVENTS
There has been so much fun and growth with our student leadership team! Our next three mandatory meetings are December 7, January 11 and February 8. For these three meetings, each month is going to look a little bit different. The December meetings will be held in homes, the January meeting will be held at church like normal, and the February meeting will be service driven. It is extremely important that parent’s ask their child for flyer’s after each meeting with specifics for the next meeting or look out for an email from your child’s director.
With that said, you can click here to find out the address for the December meeting. Our January meeting will be at the Warehouse like normal from 6-9pm and will cost $5. Details for February will be announced soon and will eventually be posted online.
Visit the Student Leadership page for more details on events, devotionals, and more.
ON THE HORIZON: STARVING TO SERVE (FUNDRAISING BEGINS FEBRUARY 9)
Starving to Serve (S2S) is our annual fundraiser where we ask our students to go without food for 30 hours to raise awareness and money to help stop world hunger. The money we raise primarily goes to Outside the Bowl, a soup-kitchen ministry that aims to nourish children physically and spiritually. There are a couple other organizations we support that will benefit from the money raised as well. Last year’s fundraising raised over $113,000!
Fundraising will begin the weekend after Camp United and all the money will be due at our Starving to Serve Celebration on Friday, March 15 where we will all pig out on a burrito feast at midnight after having starved for 30 hours.
Stay tuned for more information!
